The European Guidelines and Quality Assurance on Primary Prevention of Gastric Cancer and the Third EU Cancer Screening Report (EU-GAINS) project will develop the first-ever evidence-based European guidelines for population-based Helicobacter pylori screen-and-treat programmes, as the primary strategy for preventing gastric cancer, while paving the way for developing the quality assurance scheme for the strategy. EU-GAINS will also produce the Third European Union (EU) Cancer Screening Report, providing an updated overview of the implementation of cancer screening across Europe.
The project’s outcomes will strengthen cancer prevention and screening in Europe and bolster coordination of these efforts, thereby contributing to the implementation of the new EU Cancer Screening Scheme, which is one of the flagship initiatives of Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan.
EU-GAINS is a 2-year project led by IARC in close collaboration with the European Commission (EC) Joint Research Centre (JRC).
The project is co-funded by the EU4Health Programme - EU4H-2024-IO2-IBA-01 (project no. 101248767) and by IARC.
